Light painting is a unique process that is quite involved. The subjects are photographed in the dark using various LED flashlights and modifiers. Every section of the subject is photographed separately. Then in post production all the parts are layered and blended together using Photoshop. The “White House” photograph took a total of seventeen hours to photograph and finish in post production and consisted of 46 separate layers.
Who Should Do Light Painting?
Light painting is most desirably used when you want to make a bold statement about some place or some thing. They make beautifully stunning pieces in a lobby area of a business, hospital or decor in a home or office.
Typically these pieces look best when made large. Currently we are printing them on metal using a dye sublimation method of embedding the dyes directly into the aluminum face of the piece. The result is remarkable when using a high gloss finish.
