" The horse. Here is nobility without conceit, friendship without envy, beauty without vanity. A willing servant, yet never a slave." Ronald Duncan
" The horse, with beauty unsurpassed, strength immeasurable and grace unlike any other, still remains humble enough to carry a man upon his back." Amber Senti
Equestrian portraits covers a wide range of styles for us. Some of the portraits we do are of the horses by themselves. Whether you have a Frezian, Haflinger, thoroughbred or somewhere in between each make great subjects for photographs and paintings. Recently polo players have become an interesting market we will pursue.
I thrive on the challenges of working with the horses and their owners, separately and together. Their magnificence awes me and they definitely have my respect. Most do their best to be cooperative subjects. There’s an occasional stubborn one in the mix… but a gentle nuzzle and a carrot stick always seems to win them over.
To love an animal intensely is something not everyone understands. There has always been a special place in my heart for animals... all animals, and I've been the keeper of many over my years.
A Love Story...
A woman and her horse have been together for thirty years. Several days had gone by and nobody had even seen this woman. She didn’t show up for work. Friends called her house and there was no answer. Then finally, one of her friends went to the barn to see if she might be there. And yes, there they both were lying together in the stall. Her trusted friend for thirty years needed her now. And for three full days and nights the woman stayed there comforting her loyal friend till it was time to gently say goodbye.
“I’m happy to be in the ‘Love’ business”...
When asked what business I’m in, depending on the circumstances, I’ll tell people I’m in the “love” business. It’s the foundation of everything my work is based upon. People get portraits for just a couple of reasons. Either they love someone, or someone loves them. It’s really that simple.
