Al Buschauer
As founder and CEO of Buschauer Portraits, I am actively involved with multiple studio functions including: principal photographer, digital artist, marketer and fine art print maker. He oversees the general operation of the studio, making sure we are operating according to our vision, passions and customers' needs.
If accolades matter, I'll humbly admit to having enjoyed considerable success in my career, winning numerous awards locally, regionally and nationally. My work's been on public display at Florida's EPCOT Center, and have had images chosen for the Photography Hall of Fame. I've taught other professional photographers on the lecture circuit across the United States. I find teaching both inspiring and rewarding. One of the greatest thrills of teaching is when you see students have "Ah-Ha" moments.
When I'm not working I enjoy reading, learning new things and taking my dog Daisy Mae out to the woods for a long hike. I also find it enjoyable to sit down with my guitar and play some of my favorite songs.
Recently (2021-2022) I've decided to start a greeting card company. There's something to be said about getting a card in the mail from someone you care about. It sounds so antiquated since we can easily stay in contact with our cell phones and computers. But the recipients won't easily forget such a kind gesture. So far this has been a lot of fun. Planning on launching spring/summer of 2022!
For the past year I've been interviewing and photographing subjects for a gratitude book. Gratitude is an amazing force in the universe, and I love getting other people's opinions of how it has affected their lives. When will it be published? It's rally hard to say. The best answer I can give is, "When it's done."
Experiencing what life is like in third world countries has been life changing. You just don't get the same sense of desperation and also hope by reading about it or watching the news. My first trip to Africa was a mission trip with Hands of Hope in 2006. I returned in 2007 with a group from Willow Creek Community Church. 2016 took me to Haiti where I saw juxtaposed the beauty and the horrific.
Please take a few minutes to view some of my images.
