FAQ

This section answers some of the questions that we get asked frequently. Of course it you have a question of your own, please don't hesitate to call us or send an email.

What sets Buschauer apart from other photography studios? Expand

Our intention is to ask what you want instead of telling you what to do. Once we understand your desires, then we help you plan to that end by suggesting appropriate clothing, print sizes and possible locations for your portrait session. Without this kind of approach: first conceiving a portrait idea and then producing it under exacting standards... we would fall into the category of mediocrity. Lastly, we guarantee our work - period!

How long does the photography session take? Expand

Depending on the type of session you book, expect your appointment to last between thirty minutes for a Classic Studio Study and up to two hours or longer for our extensive studio and location studies.
We suggest you allow some buffer time as sessions can and do vary somewhat in length.

How many photographs are taken during the session? Expand

There is no set amount of photographs taken. Our philosophy maintains a “whatever it takes” attitude!

How long after the portraits are taken can I see them? Expand

Portraits are typically ready to be viewed at our studio the following business day. When you actually come in - depends on your availability and ours. Previews are shown via projection on a large screen for the purposes of clearly seeing expressions and determining sizes.

Business portraits are chosen digitally via email and usually sent the same day.

Are digital files included with my portraits? Expand

Sure. Small digital files from your portraits are available for purchase for $100 each for any portraits 8X10" to 14X18" purchased. We will provide for free, one digital image for each wall portrait purchased ~ 16X20" and larger at regular studio prices.

The digital files provided are for sharing digitally on mobile devices and desktop computers. The files are small, but look great on your screen. Prints can be purchased through our studio.

Business portraits are always delivered to you in digital format. (2.5M)

How do I order portraits and who should attend the view and order appointment? Expand

You will have the opportunity to order portraits at the initial viewing of your photographs. At this time, grandparents or anyone else interested in ordering portraits, should also be present. Because portrait orders can represent a sizable investment, we ask that all necessary financial decision-makers be present. That way there will be no delays in getting your beautiful finished portraits to you as soon as possible.

It's recommended that small children less than eight years old are left to the care of your favorite babysitter for your ordering or framing appointments. Your viewing appointment will require your undivided attention. It won't be fair to you if  you become distracted during this time together.

Because only one viewing appointment is included in our costs, please be prepared to place your order on the day of this appointment and you will receive your bonus of 15% off your entire portrait order!

For out of town clients and for extenuating circumstances, special arrangements will be made to do our meeting online.

What works best in my home? Expand

People generally choose one or two wall portraits from a given portrait session to display in their home. Using portraits as wall decor makes a dynamic personal statement in your home environment.

What size wall portrait should I select? Expand

The finished size of your wall portrait is best determined by the available wall space in your intended display area; in conjunction with the proportional size of the faces in the respective photograph.

16 and 20" inch sized portraits are fine for close-up images

24 - 50" sizes are recommended for half, three-quarter and full-length poses.

Through projection, we show you exactly how your portrait will look in a given size before you order it.

Do portrait prices include frames? Expand

Because we carry extensive lines of frames - both in style and price range, it is impossible for us to forecast what you might select. Therefore, frames are not included within our portrait prices. Our framing specialists are experts in guiding you towards design choices that will please you and beautifully showcase your prints.

What will my investment be for the portriats I choose? Expand

Portraits are priced by size and finish.

Simply put, wall portraits are printed on artist's canvas and start at around $1000.

Tabletops and smaller grouping portraits are finished with a fine pebble texture start at $200 at the "initial viewing" 15% off.

What kind of Investment am I looking at for the portraits? Expand

Simply, portraits are put into two categories:

  1. Wall Portraits
  2. Desktop or grouping portraits

Wall portraits are printed on artist's canvas, and start at about $1000. These sizes vary from 20" ro 60"

Desktop portraits 8X0" to 14X18" start at $200 which reflects the 15% off "initial viewing " pricing.
